Back to Case Studies

Executive Summary

Alasco GmbH is a Germany-based construction technology company that specializes in providing digital solutions for the construction industry. Alasco offers a platform that enables construction companies to manage their projects more efficiently by providing real-time insights and data-driven decision-making tools. The platform uses artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to analyze data from construction projects, such as scheduling, budgeting, and procurement, to help improve the overall performance of the project.

The company's goal is to transform the construction industry by using technology to optimize and streamline project management processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity. Alasco's clients include some of the largest construction companies in Germany, and the company has received several awards for its innovative solutions.

The Challenge

Alasco GmbH faced challenges while running their workloads on Elastic Beanstalk, such as limited control over the underlying infrastructure and difficulty in scaling and managing containers.

To address concerns regarding the management and security of their workloads as the company continues to expand, Alasco GmbH sought the assistance of Come to the Clouds Ltd., a reputable AWS service provider. Come to the Clouds proposed a solution to migrate Alasco's workloads to an Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) cluster utilizing the Fargate launch type. The Fargate launch type eliminates the need for customers to manage the underlying EC2 instances, providing a serverless experience. This migration is expected to improve the management and scalability of Alasco's workloads while also enhancing their security and cost-effectiveness.

The Solution

The project was initiated through a series of workshops, where Alasco GmbH management conveyed their requirements to Come to the Clouds, an established AWS Service provider, enlisted to assist in the project. Based on these requirements, Come to the Clouds proposed a multi-account Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) setup to handle different environments, and subsequently developed secure, compliant, and scalable EKS Cluster templates together with Alasco's platform team.

After the initial deployment, Come to the Clouds migrated the current workloads from Elastic Beanstalk to the newly established EKS Cluster to address the concerns of scalability, security, and compliance. During the course of the project, Come to the Clouds made extensive use of several AWS services, including but not limited to AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), AWS Fargate, ElasticBeanstalk, ECR, App Load Balancer, Network Load Balancer, API Gateway, RDS, RDS Read Replica, VPC, and Transit Gateway.

Results and Benefits

Upon successful completion of the project with Come to the Clouds, Alasco GmbH has now acquired a new platform that is capable of accommodating an infinite number of container workloads and is well-positioned for future growth. This new infrastructure is equipped with the necessary scalability, security, and compliance features to ensure that the company can expand and onboard enterprise customers to its SaaS application with ease. By migrating to EKS, the new setup is now future-proofed and can efficiently meet the evolving requirements of a growing business.

Next Steps

Come to the Clouds will continue to optimize and modernize workloads to achieve maximal cloud agility.
